I've been wearing New Balance walking or cross trainer shoes for 20 years as a brand suggested, along with a couple other brands, by a podiatrist. I have been very happy with NB until this spring. They have changed the sole on design on their shoes. In the heel, there is now a cut-out.....a hole.....a negative space......This eliminates support for that heel area, like stepping in a hole. The foot falls thru the space, catching itself on the edges of the "hole". When I reached out to NB about the poor design idea, they told me "perhaps that wasn't the shoe" for me. Obviously, NB doesn't care about my business. I've looked at some other shoes and this new design seems to be catching on.......bad idea

I had a great experience going to a running shoe store where there are professionals. If someone takes the time to ensure you are properly fitted - and they know what they are talking about, I'm happy to give them my business. Always great to build a relationship with these sales professionals - it pays off in the long run (pardon the pun), even if you feel you can get the same shoe online cheaper.

After 3 months of walking my shoes starting giving me blisters. Went to a specialty store at a running friends recommendation. Quit an experience. Had me take off shoes & socks and walk back and forth to see how my ankles lined up and foot moved when I walked. Had me try on 1 shoe on left foot with another type of shoe on right. Kept changing the one I liked less. Then took the 1 I liked on the other foot and tried on a couple others on my other foot. Only when I consistently chose the same shoe did I try on both shoes and walk around, then tried on the 2nd most comfortable pair and walked around. Great experience. They looked like they lived the healthy life style and very professional. Also had a treadmill for you to try running in the shoes if you were a runner. One girl was going at it while I shopped. They were also very supportive and encouraging for this old overweight grammy trying to get in shape.

Very helpful. Shoes really impact my feet as I have arthritis in them.

I try on shoes in the store and then search for them online---- almost always can find them cheaper. I also look for discontinued styles and colors that are usually sale or clearance priced

This was very helpful as I am in need of new walking sneakers right now.
