Spark Spotlight: Jennie (SADIEMYERS)

By , SparkPeople Blogger
At SparkPeople, we love helping people accomplish big goals—but we believe it's equally important to celebrate the small successes along the way. Each week in the Spark Spotlight, we'll check in with a featured member about his or her proudest moments, biggest challenges and advice for others on living, thinking and feeling healthier. We hope these quick snapshots will help motivate you to keep moving steadily toward your own goals, week by week.

This Week's Spotlight: Jennie (SADIEMYERS)
Age: 40
Location: Spring Creek, Nevada

Small Success of the Week

Jennie posted a terrific before-and-after photo to the Community Goal Feed, showing what a difference four years can make. She says she feels so much healthier now, and "slow and steady" got her to where she is today.

What's your overall goal?

To remain happy, healthy, strong, flexible and to find that elusive abdominal muscle!

How is SparkPeople helping you get there?

The food tracker is my best SparkPeople tool. I use it every day. I plan ahead, I change my menu as necessary [and] I fuel myself with nutrients my body thrives on.

What's your biggest challenge right now?

[I'm] working hard for body change. The changes are now subtle and don't involve a scale. It's more of a muscle-sculpting journey. I want to remain lean, yet have toned, shapely muscles. I find taking photos is the best tool of measurement at this point.

What advice do you have for someone who just joined SparkPeople today?

First, use the food tracker and track everything you eat, no exceptions. Analyze it and learn what your body thrives on. Second, grow your self-discipline muscle. I see so many people starting over every week. It's good to never give up, but so much greater to actually reach your weight or fitness goal.
