Spark Spotlight: Linzy (LINZY7)

By , SparkPeople Blogger
At SparkPeople, we love helping people accomplish big goals—but we believe it's equally important to celebrate the small successes along the way. Each week in the Spark Spotlight, we'll check in with a featured member about his or her proudest moments, biggest challenges and advice for others on living, thinking and feeling healthier. We hope these quick snapshots will help motivate you to keep moving steadily toward your own goals, week by week.

This Week's Spotlight: Linzy (LINZY7)
Age:  26
Location: Midlothian, Virginia

Small Success of the Week

Linzy is proud of how much she's accomplished in one year and shared her amazing "before" and "after" photos on the Community Feed. In addition, she stated her optimism toward her weight-loss journey by saying "It’s never too late to change your life."

What's your overall goal?

I actually started my weight-loss journey in January and have lost 77 pounds so far. When I started I did not really have a goal. I want to lose about 60 to 70 more pounds.

How is SparkPeople helping you get there?

SparkPeople has helped me stay focused with tracking my food and exercise. I love the Community Feed where you can see what other people are doing; it gives you the inspiration to keep going.

What's your biggest challenge right now?

My biggest challenge now is the summertime. We travel and my family does not eat very healthy so sometimes I get sucked into that. When I get back from the beach, I'm starting back at it and putting my full effort in again. I've tried to lose weight before and never have succeeded, so SparkPeople has been such a great tool for me.

What advice do you have for someone who just joined SparkPeople today?

My advice to people who have just joined is to be determined. Nothing will change unless you put in 100 percent. Track all your food because everything adds up and you're (probably) eating more than you think. Exercise has been my best friend mentally and physically. When you see the pounds falling off, it'll all be worth it. There will be days you struggle but it's nothing compared to the feeling you get when you look at old pictures and see where you came from. I had no idea I was that big until I looked at old pictures.
