25 Delicious Ways to Use Your Spiralizer for Dinner Tonight

By , SparkPeople Blogger
If eating veggies is the opposite of your idea of a good time or if you're spending more time with pasta than with your gym membership, allow us to introduce your new best friend. The spiralizer is a super simple kitchen tool that's nothing short of miraculous. With very little effort and in just a matter of seconds, it turns fresh produce into noodles. Simply place a firm vegetable into the grinder, turn the crank and watch the long, ribbon-like "noodles" magically appear.

Thanks to the spiralizer, you can keep enjoying your favorite "pasta" recipes, bid "goodbye" to all the extra carbs (and calories) and fit in more servings of vegetables with every meal. Veggie noodles also make healthy, delicious additions to casseroles, salads and soups. Another benefit to spiralized veggies is that they take up more room on your plate than their whole counterpart, so it tricks your brain into thinking you're consuming more.

How SparkPeople Members Are Getting Their Spiral On

  • OCEANS241 uses the Kitchen Supreme spiralizer to slice cucumbers, then adds salt, pepper and a little avocado ranch dressing. "It's a completely different experience than just eating cucumber slices—it really transforms it into something I truly want to eat." Another of her favorites is zucchini noodles with light pesto sauce and grilled chicken.
  • The Paderno Spiralizer has been a life-saver for TURKEYPANTS. "So far my favorite meals have been chicken parmesan over zoodles and Thai zoodle salad."
  • CHEF910 uses her spiralizer to make spiral zucchini salad with edamame, avocado, salt, pepper and lime juice.
  • TERRI101959 also loves the Paderno: "I like the zucchini noodles with an avocado-cream sauce. I just cook the noodles in a nonstick frying pan, then make a quick sauce with avocado, a bit of cream or milk, juice of a lemon and some basil. I (also) use it for butternut squash ribbons, roasted on a sheet pan with a bit of thyme and olive oil. You can also make a great cucumber Thai salad with rice vinegar, sesame oil, a little soy, some pepper flakes and a few crushed peanuts."
  • DINOSAURPUDDING uses her spiralizer to make delicious, low-fat hash browns. Start by spiralizing a sweet potato, then place the strips on a baking sheet and sprinkle with garlic salt before baking to the desired crispness.
